Background and more detail
The system
Private schools are licensed by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, which approves fee changes. Curricula include British, American, IB, Indian, Pakistani, Filipino and French.
Fees and allowances
Fees range from about QAR 20,000 to over QAR 80,000 a year. Many employment packages include an education allowance; check the cap and the number of children it covers before you sign.
Getting a place
- Apply as soon as you have a job offer, since good schools fill quickly
- Expect an assessment and an interview
- You will need a residence permit (QID) or proof that it is in progress
- Transfer certificates from abroad must be attested
Before you arrive
Ask each school about bus routes. Doha traffic and school-run timing affect where families choose to live.
